Marc Vachon is an Associate Professor at the University of Winnipeg's Faculty of Geography, Department of Geography. He teaches courses such as Urban Development, Urban Land Use, Human Geography, and Architecture and City Planning. His research focuses on urban planning (neighbourhood planning, infill, Winnipeg downtown), 20th-century cultural and architectural avant-garde movements (e.g., Situationism), social/public space design, and the interplay between place and everyday life. Notable publications include works on Situationist urban theory, Montreal literary spaces, and Ottawa's urban morphology.
His research trends emphasize critical engagements with urban theory, cultural geography, and the intersections of literature, film, and urban memory. Recent work explores sustainable development and the role of avant-garde movements in shaping urban narratives. He has contributed to discussions on ICT impacts on urban spaces and spatial metaphors in Francophone literature.
