Dr. hab. Michał Wenderski serves as Assistant Professor at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, specifically within the Department of Dutch and South African Studies in the Faculty of Humanities. His academic profile reflects a strong focus on transnational cultural relations, particularly between Poland and the Low Countries, spanning both the interwar avant-garde period and Cold War era.
Wenderski completed his academic journey with a B.A. in Dutch Studies (2012) and Ph.D. in Dutch and Flemish Literature (2017), both from AMU Poznań, following an M.A.Sc. in Architecture and Urban Planning from Poznań University of Technology (2010). His scholarly development culminated with a Habilitation (D.Litt.) in Cultural Studies from AMU Poznań in 2025.
His research interests center on international cultural diplomacy, Polish, Dutch and Flemish twentieth century aesthetic avant-garde, cultural mobility between Poland and the Low Countries, and the theory and history of modern literature, art and architecture. Wenderski's work often examines the intricate connections between artistic movements across national boundaries, challenging traditional center-periphery paradigms in art history.
An analysis of his fifteen most recent publications reveals a consistent scholarly trajectory examining cultural exchanges between Eastern and Western Europe, with particular attention to Poland's artistic and cultural relationships with the Netherlands and Belgium. His work spans from interwar avant-garde networks to Cold War cultural diplomacy, demonstrating methodological versatility through archival research, art historical analysis, and network theory applications.
