Susan Larson is the Charles B. Qualia Endowed Professor of Romance Languages at Texas Tech University, holding a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. She is affiliated with the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures and specializes in Spanish literature, film, and urban cultural studies. Her research focuses on Urban Studies, Cultural Geography, and the Historical Avant-Garde, with notable contributions to works like Comfort and Domestic Space in Modern Spain and Architecture and the Urban in Spanish Film.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from the University of Arizona. Larson has advised numerous graduate students, including Abdullah Al Saki, Andrew J. Cosper, and David S. Foshee, whose works explore themes such as urban cinema, post-televisión series, and Spanish film history.
Larson has received prestigious awards including the Fulbright Senior Scholar grant and a fellowship from the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies. Her research has also been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Charles B. Qualia Endowment.
Her publications span academic books, edited volumes, and peer-reviewed articles, often intersecting with interdisciplinary fields like urban theory and environmental humanities.
