Marc André Éthier is a Tenured Professor in the Department of Didactics at the Faculty of Education, University of Montreal. His research focuses on the didactics of history, citizenship education, and innovative uses of educational technologies like video games in teaching. He directs the CRIFPE (Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la formation et la profession enseignante) and is a member of the ADAJ (Accès au droit et à la justice) research group. Éthier holds a PhD in Didactics from the University of Montreal, with prior teaching experience at the secondary level and the University of Québec at Trois-Rivières.
His research explores historical thinking, the use of digital tools (e.g., Assassin’s Creed, Discovery Tour), and the integration of films, games, and artifacts into classrooms. He has led projects funded by the FRQSC and SSHRC, examining curriculum materials, teacher practices, and student learning outcomes. Éthier also serves on institutional committees, including the University of Montreal’s Faculty Council and the editorial board of the Revue des sciences de l’éducation.
