Manuel Simons is an Assistant Professor of Acting and Performance in the School of Theatre and Dance at the University of Florida. His expertise spans directing, acting, and applied theatre, with a focus on evidence-based pedagogies that integrate civic, social, and cultural contexts. He holds a PhD from Fordham University and completed undergraduate and graduate studies at NYU.
- Education: PhD (Fordham), MA/BA (NYU)
Research interests include theatre education methodologies, intersections of performance with societal issues, and inclusive teaching practices. His directing credits include works by Toni Morrison, Harper Lee, and Suzan-Lori Parks, alongside Broadway collaborations and cabaret productions. Professional affiliations include Actors’ Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA.
Key honors include the Distinguished Dissertation Award for research on individuated theatre instruction. Producing credits span Disney, Marvel, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Office hours are Wednesdays 12:30–2:30pm (Fall/Spring).
