Terri Kent is a Professor at the School of Theatre and Dance, Kent State University, where she serves as the coordinator of the B.F.A. Musical Theatre program and Producing Artistic Director of Porthouse Theatre, the university's summer professional theatre. Her career spans directing, acting, and education, with affiliations including Actors' Equity Association, SAG/AFTRA, Society of Directors and Choreographers, and National Alliance for Musical Theatre.

Research Focus
Kent's research centers on the Kent Movement Method, integrating Laban and Stanislavski techniques, applied to musical theatre. Her directing philosophy emphasizes reconceptualizing classic musicals for contemporary budgets and non-traditional spaces.
Performance & Directing Credits
As an actor, Kent has performed regionally and internationally, including roles like Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) and Dolly (Hello Dolly!) at venues such as Cain Park, Cleveland Play House, and Great Lakes Theater. As a director, she has worked off-Broadway, internationally (e.g., Steel Magnolias in New Delhi), and locally at institutions like Weathervane Theatre and Working Theatre. Her Porthouse Theatre credits include West Side Story, Oklahoma!, and Urinetown.
