Manuel Fernandez is a Professor in the Languages Department and Director of the Latin American and Latinx Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish from Pennsylvania State University (2001). His research focuses on 19th-century Latin American Modernismo, José Martí, U.S. Latinos/Hispanics, and Cuban cultural productions. He teaches courses in conversation, composition, and Latin American literature.

His research interests span literature, film, and music, with a particular emphasis on Cuba and its diaspora. Fernandez is affiliated with the Latin American and Latinx Studies Program and is based in Hibbard Hall 352.
