Dr. Manir Ali is a Senior Research Fellow and Group Leader at the Leeds Institute of Medical Research, part of the University of Leeds. His research focuses on genetic causes and molecular mechanisms of inherited eye diseases. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and a BSc (Honours) from the University of Edinburgh.
Educations:

- BSc Honours in Biological Sciences (University of Edinburgh, 1990)
Research Interests: Dr. Ali explores genotype-phenotype correlations in developmental eye disorders and molecular basis of optic nerve degeneration. He collaborates with global networks like the UK Inherited Retinal Disease Consortium and European Retinal Disease Consortium.

- Senior Research Fellow Tenure (2009)
Advising & Grants: Supervised 9 PhD students (lead/co-supervisor). Active in research groups including Leeds Vision Research Group and Leeds Psychosis Research Group.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Molecular Genetics Research Group and participates in the Leeds Institute of Medical Research (LIMR) initiatives.
