Dr. Sunayna Best is a Clinical Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She is currently undertaking a PhD in genomic medicine, focusing on variant interpretation in inherited retinal diseases and ciliopathies, supported by a Wellcome 4Ward North Clinical PhD Fellowship.

Her research is centered on improving diagnostic yield in medical genomics through advanced variant interpretation pipelines. Her primary interests include ciliopathies, inherited eye diseases, and genotype-phenotype correlations. She has conducted research on renal complications in Bardet-Biedl syndrome and laterality defects in primary ciliary dyskinesia during her Academic Clinical Fellowship at Imperial College London.
She is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and contributes to medical education by teaching genetics workshops to second-year medical students at Leeds.
