Malcolm Tulip is an Associate Professor of Theatre & Drama at the University of Michigan, serving as head of the directing concentration and co-founder of the InterArts program. He teaches directing, physical theatre, acting, clown, and devised theatre. His work includes over 35 directed productions at U-M and collaborations with international theatre practitioners in Poland.
- Education: Studied dance and art at Goldsmiths’ College (University of London) and graduated from L’École Jacques Lecoq, Paris.
Research interests focus on interdisciplinary performance, physical theatre techniques, and international artistic exchange. He actively collaborates with Polish theatre institutions, showcasing work at festivals like ITSeLF in Warsaw. His original plays under Prospero Theatre Co., including award-winning Down the Plughole, highlight his creative writing and production expertise.
Performance highlights include roles in Derek Jarman’s The Tempest, European tours with I Gelati Theatre Co., and performances at venues like The Heritage Theatre Festival and The Purple Rose. He is a member of American Actors Equity and the Association of Theatre Movement Educators.
