Dr. Malcolm Poole serves as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Physics at Lancaster University, specializing in experimental low-temperature physics and quantum fluid dynamics.
His research focuses on the microscopic properties of quantum fluids, particularly superfluid helium-4. Dr. Poole's work bridges experimental physics with quantum mechanics, examining nanoscale phenomena in extreme cryogenic conditions. His research spans both theoretical modeling and precision experimental techniques to study quantum turbulence and develop advanced quantum sensors.
Dr. Poole's recent publication demonstrates his expertise in developing nanoscale probe technologies to investigate fundamental properties of quantum fluids. His work represents cutting-edge approaches to measuring quantum phenomena at microscopic scales.
Dr. Poole is actively involved in two major research units: the Low Temperature Physics group and the Quantum Technology Centre at Lancaster University. His recently completed project "Microscopic dynamics of quantized vortices in turbulent superfluid in the T=0 limit" (2017-2022) established foundational work for his current research directions.
