Malcolm Combe is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde’s School of Law, joining in December 2019. Previously, he held roles as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen (2011–2019) and practiced as a solicitor specializing in capital projects, commercial property, and rural law. His academic work focuses on property law, with emphases on land law reform, public access to land, and landlord-tenant dynamics. He actively engages in clinical legal education and access-to-justice initiatives. He currently serves as the School’s Communications Director, curating content for the Strathclyde Law Blog.
Education & Qualifications:
- Qualified as a solicitor in Scotland (2008) and England & Wales (2009)
Research Interests: Land law reform, sustainable land use policy, human rights in property contexts, and community empowerment through legal frameworks. His projects include advising the Scottish Government on land reform and co-leading studies on global land financialization and food production tensions.

- Principal Investigator for the Paterson Festschrift (2024–2025)
- Researcher on “Scotland’s Land Reform Futures” (2022–present), analyzing land ownership and net-zero goals
- Co-investigator on a project linking land rights to food security in Scotland, Amazon, and Arctic regions (2022–2022)
Teaching & External Roles: Teaches property law, commercial law, and legal skills. Serves as a Trustee of the Clinical Legal Education Organisation and External Examiner for multiple universities. He is a member of the Scottish Government’s Land and Human Rights Advisory Forum.
