Dr. Michael Poulsom is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, specializing in Property Law, Landlord and Tenant Law, and Property Practice. He holds an LL.B. (1995) and LL.M. (2001) from Birmingham University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (1996), and a PhD by Publication from Manchester Metropolitan University (2025). He transitioned from a 16-year career as a practicing solicitor specializing in commercial/residential property (1998–2014) to full-time academia in 2011. His research focuses on practical property law issues including home working legalities, rentcharge systems, and restrictive covenants, with publications in prestigious journals like Journal of Property, Planning and Environmental Law and The Conveyancer and Property Lawyer. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Property, Planning and Environmental Law and leads LLB/GDL Land Law modules.
