Malabika Sarker is the Associate Dean for Global Engagement and Professor of the Practice of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown University's School of Public Health. She holds a Master's in Public Health from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Heidelberg. Over her 30-year career, she has worked across four continents, focusing on implementation research in Sub-Saharan Africa and Bangladesh. She has secured over $10 million in grants and published 150 peer-reviewed articles. Her roles include Chair of the Advisory Board for the HRP Alliance and Evaluation Advisory Committee Member for Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
Dr. Sarker's research emphasizes mixed-methods approaches in global health, including reproductive health, STI/HIV prevention, tuberculosis control, and nutrition. She previously served as Associate Dean and Acting Dean at BRAC University in Bangladesh, founding the Center of Excellence for Implementation & Scale-Up (SISU). She teaches two courses at Brown SPH: PHP2710 on disability/death in the Global South and PHP2727 on implementation science.
