Dr. Makeen F Makeen is a Senior Lecturer in Commercial Law at the School of Law, Gender and Media, SOAS University of London. He holds a Visiting Professor appointment at King’s College London and has taught globally at institutions like Pepperdine School of Law and the Judicial Academy of Abu Dhabi. His expertise spans Intellectual Property Law, with a focus on Comparative Copyright Law, Information Technology Law, and Middle Eastern Commercial Law. Dr. Makeen’s research bridges civil and common law traditions, addressing legal challenges in both developed and developing jurisdictions.
He earned his LLB from Ain Shams University (Egypt), followed by an LLM and PhD from King’s College London. His landmark book, Copyright in a Global Information Society, is a foundational text in comparative copyright studies.
