Prof. Dr. Makbule ERDOĞDU is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Ahi Evran University's Faculty of Science and Literature. She has been serving as a full-time faculty member since 2015 and previously held positions as Assistant Professor (2009-2011) and Research Assistant (2006-2009) at the same institution. Prior to that, she worked as a Research Assistant at Gazi University's Faculty of Science (2002-2006). She also served as Department Chair at Ahi Evran University from 2019-2020.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Biology from Gazi University (2004-2008), a Master's in Biology (2001-2004), and a Bachelor's degree in Biology (1997-2001), all from Gazi University.
Dr. ERDOĞDU specializes in Mycology, Fungal Systematics, and Microbiology, with significant contributions to plant pathology and fungal ecology. Her research spans traditional mycological studies and innovative applications in renewable energy, particularly in natural dye-sensitized solar cells. She has led numerous research projects on the microfungi of various Turkish regions including Kırşehir, Bolu, Bitlis, and other areas, examining fungal biodiversity in national parks, vineyards, and forest ecosystems.
Her publication record shows a clear progression from pure mycological research toward interdisciplinary work connecting fungal studies with renewable energy applications. While her early work focused on fungal taxonomy and plant-pathogen interactions, her recent publications demonstrate a growing interest in applying natural compounds from plants and fungi to photovoltaic technology. This interdisciplinary approach represents an innovative fusion of traditional mycology with materials science.
Dr. ERDOĞDU has successfully supervised numerous graduate students, guiding Master's and Doctoral theses on topics ranging from fungal biodiversity to occupational health and safety. Her thesis topics reflect her dual expertise in mycology and environmental science applications.
She has served as principal investigator for multiple research projects funded by higher education institutions and TÜBİTAK, focusing on microbial diversity in Turkish ecosystems and applications of natural compounds in solar cell technology. Her collaborative network includes researchers from Gazi University, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, and international collaborators from various countries.
