معرفی
Professor Maisoon Al-Jawad is a Professor of Biological Physics and Biomineralisation in the School of Dentistry at the University of Leeds. She leads the Department of Oral Biology and the Biomineralisation Research Group, and serves as Athena Swan Lead. Her work bridges physics, materials science, biology, and dentistry, focusing on biomineralisation processes and biomimetic hard tissue repair.
Education:
- BSc and PhD in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Leeds (2005)
- EPSRC Life Science Interface Fellowship at University of Leeds (2006-2009)
- Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London (2009-2019)
Research: Specializes in understanding physico-chemical processes in dental enamel biomineralisation/demineralisation, using synchrotron and neutron scattering techniques. Translates findings into biomimetic clinical applications for oral and musculoskeletal systems.
Advising & Teams:
- Supervises postgraduate researcher Reham Gonnah
- Leads the Biomineralisation Research Group
- Offers PhD opportunities in biomaterials and biomineralisation
Labs/Teams: Active in interdisciplinary collaborations at the Wellcome Trust Brenner Building, integrating advanced physics techniques with biomedical applications.
