Dr Amrit Chauhan is a Lecturer in Qualitative Methodology and Autism-related Oral Health at the School of Dentistry, University of Leeds. As a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) with a PhD in Psychology, they specialize in qualitative research methods, autism, patient and public involvement in research, complex intervention evaluation, and behaviour change in dentistry. They co-lead the Applied Qualitative Health Research module and teach Social Sciences for Undergraduate Dental Students and Paediatric Dentistry for Postgraduate Dental Specialty.
- Current projects: toothPASTE (NIHR-funded), HABIT (MRC/Better Start Bradford), Strong Teeth (Procter & Gamble), and Health Education England initiatives
- Research interests focus on oral health support for autistic children, family empowerment, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Active in Athena SWAN and Aurora initiatives for gender equality
They supervise six Professional Doctorate and PhD students across Dentistry, Psychology, and Health Education domains.
