Magnus Kahlin is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Management and Engineering (IEI), specializing in Engineering Materials (KMAT). He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Linköping University (2007). His career includes roles as a Material Engineer at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery (2008–2011) and Saab Aeronautics (2011–present), where he currently serves as Research and Implementation Leader for Additive Manufacturing (AM). His research focuses on advancing AM in aerospace applications, particularly understanding fatigue and damage tolerance in metal AM components like Ti6Al4V.
Research Interests: Additive Manufacturing (3D-printing) in metals, fatigue behavior of AM materials, aerospace applications of AM, optimization of AM processes, and surface post-processing techniques to enhance material properties.
Publications emphasize fatigue analysis of AM components, with recent work addressing crack propagation, thickness measurement methods, and surface treatments. His work bridges academic research and industrial implementation, particularly for high-performance aeronautical parts.
Labs/Teams: Part of the Engineering Materials (KMAT) division at Linköping University, collaborating with industry partners like Saab to drive AM innovation in aerospace engineering.
