Carl-Johan Thore is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Management and Engineering (IEI) and the Division of Solid Mechanics (SOLMEK). His research focuses on computational design methods, particularly topology optimization for mechanical structures and additive manufacturing processes. He leads the Computational Design for Optimality and Robustness project, collaborating with Siemens Energy AB to develop computational methods for gas turbine components.
Research interests include topology optimization, structural design, additive manufacturing, materials science, and fatigue analysis. His work emphasizes optimizing mechanical structures for optimal performance, with applications in aerospace and energy sectors.
Recent publications highlight advancements in topology optimization under nonproportional loading, fatigue analysis of additively manufactured materials, and computational methods for multiphysics systems. Collaborations with industry partners underscore his applied research focus. He supervises PhD students Hampus Hederberg and Henrik Petersson.
