Robert Eriksson is a Professor at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Management and Engineering (IEI) and the Division of Solid Mechanics (SOLMEK). His research focuses on high-temperature mechanics, fatigue in metals, fracture mechanics, and material modelling, particularly for gas turbine applications. He holds a Master's and PhD in Engineering Materials from Linköping University (2008 and 2013, respectively).
Dr. Eriksson’s work emphasizes developing constitutive models and fatigue life prediction techniques for materials under extreme conditions. He is a Guest Editor for the journal Materials (Special Issue on Damage, Fracture, and Fatigue of Metals) and has authored/co-authored numerous articles on thermal barrier coatings, additive manufacturing, and thermomechanical fatigue analysis. His research integrates advanced material testing, numerical simulations, and fracture mechanics principles.
Key collaborations include projects on steam turbine steels, combustor materials, and crack propagation under cyclic loading. He advises PhD students like Joakim Holmberg and collaborates with industry partners to enhance material durability in high-temperature environments. His contributions span applied mechanics, materials engineering, and aerospace applications, with a focus on advancing safe and efficient engineering systems.
