Magnus Gulbrandsen is a Professor at the Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture (University of Oslo). His work focuses on the organization of science and innovation systems, particularly university-industry relations, research commercialization, and societal impact. He leads the Oslo Institute for Research on the Impact of Science (OSIRIS) and is involved in projects like Organising Impact (ORGIMP) with health authorities.
- Education: PhD in Industrial Economics and Technology Management (NTNU, 2000)
- Adjunct Researcher at NIFU (since 1994)
- Guest Professor at Copenhagen Business School (2002-03)
Research interests include hybrid research institutions, science-policy co-production, and digital transformation's impact on innovation. His recent work examines pandemic response through data sharing, sustainability transitions, and open access policies. He has served on Norwegian Research Council boards and led EU-funded projects like Horizon 2020 ICT networks.
He teaches courses such as TIK4021 (Innovation) and TIK4001 (Introductory Master's). He co-organizes NORSI writing workshops and has supervised 13 PhD students in science and innovation studies.
