Lars H. Gulbrandsen

Lars H. Gulbrandsen is a Research Professor and Research Director for Climate and Energy at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI) since 2019. He also serves as Deputy Director at FNI since 2015, with prior roles as Senior Research Fellow (2005-2013) and Research Fellow (2001-2005). He holds a full professor competence (2013), a PhD in political science (University of Oslo, 2009), and an MSc in organizational psychology (LSE, 1998).

Research interests span

• Global environmental governance
• Climate and energy policy
• Wind/solar power expansion
• Land-use and forest governance
• Public-private governance interactions

His work examines EU-Norway policy coherence, renewable energy permitting challenges, aquaculture sustainability, and voluntary sustainability standards.
