معرفی
Magne Børset is a Professor of Cell Biology and Hematological Cancer at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and a Senior Consultant in the Department of Immunology and Transfusion Medicine at St. Olavs Hospital. His research focuses on multiple myeloma (MM), particularly mechanisms of cell survival, bone disease, and therapeutic targets. Key contributions include the discovery of syndecan-1-based cell separation methods, establishment of the OH-2 MM cell line, and elucidation of HGF/c-Met signaling pathways. He has pioneered studies on BMP-induced apoptosis, PRL-3 phosphatase roles, and metabolic pathways in cancer cells.
- Education:
- M.D., 1988
- Ph.D., 1996
- Research Highlights:
- First descriptions of NF-κB activation and HGF expression in MM cells
- Identification of syndecan-1 and HGF as prognostic markers
- Development of mouse models for myeloma bone disease
His recent work explores immunosuppressive adenosine pathways, serine synthesis inhibition, and PRL-3's role in metabolic reprogramming. Over 200 publications span topics like cytokine signaling (IL-6, IL-21), drug targets (c-Met inhibitors), and tumor microenvironment interactions. Collaborative efforts address clinical biomarkers and combination therapies.
Key themes in his articles include:
- Cell Signaling: HGF/c-Met, BMP, IL-6 pathways
- Metabolism: PRL-3-driven glycolysis, PHGDH inhibition
- Immune Modulation: Adenosine pathways, checkpoint inhibitors
Research consistently links molecular mechanisms to clinical outcomes, emphasizing translational impact.
