Maggie Surovell

Maggie Surovell is an Assistant Professor of Acting and Co-Chair of the Acting program at SUNY Purchase's Conservatory of Theatre Arts. She specializes in voice, text, and dialect coaching, certified as a Fitzmaurice Voicework® associate teacher since 2005. Her teaching spans institutions including Yale School of Drama, Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers), and Circle in the Square Theater School.

Education: B.A. in Acting from Temple University and M.F.A. in Acting from University of Georgia. Professional credits include dialect coaching for Sundance-selected Farewell Amor and Joe Manganiello/Sofia Vergara's Bottom of the Ninth, as well as Off-Broadway and regional theater productions. She maintains active roles as an actor, director, and writer, directing student productions at Purchase College.

Her pedagogical approach is informed by study under late legends Wynn Handman and Joseph Siravo. Office hours: Fridays by appointment between 12PM-1PM.
