Edward Pomerantz

Edward Pomerantz is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Screenwriting at SUNY-Purchase's School of Film and Media Studies. He is also the founder and director of the Harlem Dramatic Writing Workshop at Columbia University, dedicated to nurturing emerging playwrights and screenwriters.

A multi-award-winning writer, Pomerantz has received two Writers Guild Awards and multiple international film festival honors. His work spans screenplays, plays, and teleplays, with a focus on creative thinking, urban narratives, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

His recent works (2017) include the collected plays DANCING ON QUICKSAND and THREE ORIGINAL SCREENPLAYS. These publications explore experimental storytelling, character-driven drama, and adaptation techniques across different formats.

Pomerantz has served as a Creative Advisor at international screenwriting labs across Mexico, Brazil, and Cuba, while also conducting Fulbright Specialist Programs in Russia and Poland focusing on playwright-actor collaboration and dance-theater integration.
