Jill Bargonetti is a Professor of Biology at Hunter College, City University of New York, where she leads the Bargonetti Lab focused on cancer research. Her current work investigates DNA damage caused by chemotherapeutic drugs, with funding from the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health.
Her research focuses on cancer mechanisms, particularly breast cancer, using genetically engineered tools to understand tumor development and treatment responses. Professor Bargonetti has made significant contributions to understanding how cancer drugs impact DNA.
She has received numerous prestigious awards including the Presidential Early Career Award from Bill Clinton and the New York City Mayor's Award for Excellence in Science and Technology.
