Magdalena Róża Krysiak serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Criminal Law within the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Lodz. She is recognized as an expert in substantive criminal law and criminal procedure at the university, with a particular focus on cybercrime and dignity protection within criminal law frameworks.
Dr. Krysiak completed her master's studies at the University of Lodz with very good results and was subsequently accepted into the Doctoral School of Social Sciences with the highest score in the recruitment process. She was awarded the prestigious "Universitas Lodziensis Alumno Laude Dignissimo" medal for outstanding doctoral activity. She is currently preparing her doctoral dissertation on the criminal law protection of individual dignity under Polish criminal law.
Her research interests span multiple cutting-edge areas of criminal law, with particular emphasis on cybercrime, hate speech regulation, AI and criminal responsibility, and the protection of human dignity within criminal proceedings. Dr. Krysiak has conducted extensive research on the intersection of technology and criminal law, examining issues such as electronic evidence, virtual sexual offenses, and AI accountability. She also explores fundamental questions regarding life imprisonment, euthanasia, freedom of expression, and religious offenses within criminal law frameworks.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong trend toward interdisciplinary research that bridges criminal law with technology, human rights, and ethics. Her work consistently addresses contemporary challenges in criminal law, particularly those emerging from digital transformation, while maintaining a strong foundation in traditional criminal law principles. The publications demonstrate expertise in both theoretical legal analysis and practical application to current societal issues.

Dr. Krysiak has secured significant research funding, most notably as the head of the INTERCEPT research grant (International Cybercrime Research Project) from 2023-2025, awarded under the Initiative of Excellence - Research University program. She has also served as a contractor in projects under COST Association's short-term scientific missions. As an educator, she teaches criminal law courses and has designed training groups for both day and evening law students. She is the co-organizer of the annual "Konkurs na najlepszą rolę procesową w rozprawie karnej" (Competition for the Best Procedural Role in Criminal Trial) named after Professor Jan Waszczyński.
Dr. Krysiak has established an international research network through her participation in various academic institutions worldwide, including research stays at Harvard Law School, University of Cambridge, Università degli Studi di Padova, Università Bocconi, Universidade de Lisboa, and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She has also participated in specialized programs including the Digital Constitutionalism School and Summer Schools on Misinformation, Internet Governance, and International Law.
