Dr. Maeve Marmion serves as Associate Dean for Education and Student Success in the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise at the University of Chester. She concurrently holds academic leadership roles including Chair of Faculty Education and Student Experience Committee, Deputy Chair of the University Student Voice and Experience Committee, and membership in the Senior Leadership Team. Her career includes prior roles as Associate Professor (2019–2023), Head of Department, and Senior Lecturer in Marketing, Tourism, and Events Management.
Dr. Marmion holds a PhD in Heritage Management from Bournemouth University (2007–2012) and a BA (Hons) in Tourism and Heritage Management from the University of Liverpool (2002–2005). Professional certifications include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and Aurora Leadership in Higher Education training. Non-academically, she directs the Tourism Management Institute's Professional Development division.
Her research focuses on heritage management, sustainable tourism governance, and student success in higher education. Teaching expertise spans marketing, events management, and sustainable destination strategies. She actively supervises students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
Key professional contributions include chairing the University International Student Working Group and involvement in funded projects related to tourism innovation and digital heritage applications. She has published widely on tourism's intersections with health, technology, and ethical practice.
