Mary Beth Gouthro is a Senior Lecturer in Events Management at Bournemouth University's BU Business School, specializing in event experiences, sustainability, and qualitative research methods. She holds a PhD in Tourism and Heritage Management from the University of Brighton, an MSc in Tourism & Heritage Management from Bournemouth University, and a BA in Public Relations from Mount St Vincent University.

Her research focuses on event sustainability, social inclusion, and qualitative methodologies, particularly in music festivals, well-being events, and poverty-related event engagement. Recent publications in the Routledge Handbook of Events and Sustainability and journals like the International Journal of Event and Festival Management highlight her work on inclusivity, social tourism, and well-being frameworks aligned with UN SDGs.
She serves as Sustainability SIG Lead for the Association for Event Management Educators (AEME), co-chair for BU's hosting of the British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR), and executive member of the BCUR Steering Committee. Her teaching spans undergraduate to postgraduate levels, focusing on international events management and professional development.
