Madison Robertson

Madison Robertson, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor at Queen’s University and Research Coordinator at the Centre for Studies in Aging and Health at Providence Care. Her academic career includes roles as a kinesiologist, physiotherapy assistant, and program developer, with contributions to national/international research in Health Quality, Aging, and Kinesiology. She holds a PhD (2024), Master’s, and Honours Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from Queen’s University’s School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.

Dr. Robertson’s research focuses on aging, mental health in long-term care, diabetes self-management for seniors, Lyme disease education, and sport psychology for female athletes. Her work employs participatory action research, photovoice methodologies, and systematic reviews to address healthcare practitioner training, patient care access, and social determinants of health.

Her recent articles highlight innovations in lung cancer rapid assessment clinics, loneliness/depression impacts of spousal separation in long-term care, and gender equity in youth sport psychology. She has led projects across Queen’s School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Kingston Health Sciences Centre, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key projects include redesigning diabetes education programs for rural seniors, evaluating Lyme disease training resources for Canadian healthcare providers, and improving palliative care access for lung cancer patients. Her work bridges clinical practice, community outreach, and policy development to enhance health equity and aging services.
