معرفی
Madeleine Meurer is an Assistant Professor of Digital Social Entrepreneurship at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. Her research sits at the intersection of information systems and social entrepreneurship, with a focus on leveraging digital footprints to understand entrepreneurial behaviors. She is affiliated with the Sectorplan SSH-Breed initiative on "The Influence of Digitalization on Work, Prosperity, and Entrepreneurship" and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through her work on social innovation.
Her research interests revolve around three core pillars: digital cultural artifacts of entrepreneurs, socio-materiality of entrepreneurship, and digital external enablement of entrepreneurship. She investigates how entrepreneurs' digital traces—such as social media content, transaction logs, and engagement patterns—shape legitimacy, stakeholder perceptions, and resource acquisition. She emphasizes the role of digital platforms not just as tools but as active co-constructors of entrepreneurial outcomes through their design and affordances.
Methodologically, she specializes in computer-aided text analysis (CATA) and qualitative comparative analysis (QCA), and has pioneered the integrated approach Qualitative Text Comparative Analysis (QTCA) to bridge qualitative and quantitative analysis of large textual datasets. Her recent publications in journals like Management Information Systems Quarterly and Small Business Economics explore topics such as incivility in online communities, deceptive entrepreneurial narratives, and digital support mechanisms during crises like the pandemic.
She has been recognized with several scientific awards, including:
- Grigor McClelland Award runner-up (2023)
- Nomination for the William Newman Award (2023)
- Best Reviewer Award (2022)
- Best Paper Award (runner-up, 2021)
Madeleine has also been actively involved in academic service, serving as an editor for Small Business Economics, organizing workshops such as the 1st Workshop on Novelty in Entrepreneurship Research, chairing PDWs at the Academy of Management, and delivering invited talks. She has held visiting and postdoctoral positions at BI Norwegian Business School and Jönköping International Business School. While no formal lab or research group is mentioned, her collaborative work with scholars like Waldkirch, Bucher, and Davidsson indicates strong research networks. She has no listed PhD or Master’s students in the provided material.
