Professor Eleanor Shaw serves as Associate Principal at University of Strathclyde with responsibility for the University's entrepreneurship strategy 'Strathclyde Inspire', and Director of Strathclyde Doctoral School. She joined Strathclyde Business School in 2001, progressing from Department of Marketing to Head of Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship (HCE) in 2013, then to Vice Dean for Knowledge Exchange, Senior Vice Dean, and finally Associate Principal in January 2020 where she joined the University's Executive Team.
Her research focuses on entrepreneurial networking practices and their relationship with firm growth, with particular expertise in entrepreneurial diversity including women's entrepreneurship, graduate entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and creative entrepreneurship. Published in leading journals such as Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, her work examines entrepreneurial philanthropy and the redistribution of wealth for social/environmental purposes. Funded by ESRC, EPSRC, Barclays, Scottish Enterprise, Cabinet Office and Glasgow City Council, she currently serves as Co-I for the ESRC-funded ProPEL Hub.
Shaw co-designed the Growth Advantage Programme (GAP), a ScaleUp Institute-endorsed leadership program for entrepreneurs focused on innovation and inclusive leadership. Her research demonstrates significant impacts on entrepreneurial policy, ecosystems and firm growth, particularly regarding women entrepreneurs' role in UK economic development.

With over 25 years of academic experience, Shaw actively engages with small and medium enterprises, serves on boards of entrepreneurial organizations including social ventures, and maintains leadership roles with Chartered Association of Business Schools, Small Business Charter Management Board, ScaleUp Institute, and as trustee of Beatson Cancer Charity. She teaches entrepreneurial marketing, Issues and Trends in Entrepreneurship, and qualitative research methods while supervising doctoral researchers.
