Madeleine Curtis is a Researcher in the Department of Psychology at Flinders University, affiliated with the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work. She also serves as a Casual Professional in the College of Business, Government and Law and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Her research focuses on behavioral genomics, particularly disordered eating, psychiatric genomics, and epigenetics. She holds a PhD from Flinders University (2024), awarded for work on disordered eating classification and polygenic associations in the general population.
Curtis leads projects funded by the NHMRC Ideas Grant, integrating genomic, epigenetic, and environmental factors to improve outcomes for individuals with disordered eating. Her recent work examines associations between adolescent disordered eating and adult health outcomes. Key achievements include two Q1 journal publications and upcoming submissions by late 2024.
Scientific recognition includes the Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation (2016, 2019) and the Flinders University Research Scholarships (2020). She collaborates through the Behavioral Genetic and Environmental Mechanisms (Behavioral GEMs) Lab, active on Facebook and Twitter. Her research bridges genetics, environment, and mental health, with a focus on adolescent populations.
