Dr. Moritz Herle is a Lecturer in the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. His research focuses on the origins of eating behaviors, childhood obesity, and their impact on mental health outcomes, alongside quantitative methodologies like structural equation modeling and causal inference. He leads projects supported by the Rosetrees-Stoneygate Fellowship and MQ Transforming Mental Health, investigating eating disorders and self-harm co-occurrence. Collaborations include the Gemini Twin Study and the Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative (EDGI).
- Research Interests: Eating disorders, obesity, behavior genetics, longitudinal data analysis, and quantitative research methods.
- Recent Projects: EDCRN (Eating Disorders Clinical Research Network), genomic studies on eating behaviors, and investigating suicide risk in eating disorders.
His 15 most recent publications (2023-2025) explore topics like genomic links between eating disorder symptoms and suicidal ideation, parental feeding practices in children with avid eating behaviors, and the role of appetite in obesity susceptibility. Awards include the Rosetrees-Stoneygate Fellowship and MQ Transforming Mental Health support.
