Christopher Huebel is an academic clinical researcher at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience (IoPPN), affiliated with the Social Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry department. He holds an honorary contract with the Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and works under Prof. Gerome Breen in the Translational Neuropsychiatric Genomics team. His research focuses on genetic and environmental risk factors for eating disorders, integrating clinical practice with statistical genetics.
Education: MD from Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz (2015), MSc in Genes, Environment, and Development (2016), PhD in Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Research (2019). Key projects include the Eating Disorders Genetic Initiative (EDGI), aiming to recruit 10,000 participants for genetic analyses to accelerate treatment discovery.
Research interests span eating disorders, psychiatric genetics, and environmental risk factors. Recent work explores genomic differences in anorexia nervosa and links between BMI, trauma, and depression. Collaborations include global EDGI sites and teams investigating childhood maltreatment and anxiety comorbidity.
