She holds the title of Professor and serves as Deputy Lead of the Eating Disorders and Obesity Theme at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre. Her work integrates genetic, biopsychosocial, and environmental factors to understand mental health disorders, particularly eating disorders, and their comorbidities. Dr. Desrivieres' research employs neuroimaging, genomics, and longitudinal cohort studies to uncover neurophysiological and cognitive traits linked to mental illnesses. She leads the MRC-funded ESTRA project and chairs the Epigenetics Working Group of the ENIGMA consortium.
Education: Completed a PhD at the University of Paris VII, followed by postdoctoral research in Switzerland (University of Basel) and Germany (German Cancer Research Centre, Heidelberg). Her career shifted from cancer genetics to neuroimaging in the early 2000s, focusing on brain and behavior interactions.
Research Interests:
- Etiology and mechanisms of eating disorders in adolescents and young adults
- Comorbidity of eating disorders with depression, alcohol use, and psychosis
- Personalized prevention and early intervention strategies
- Genomic and neuroimaging correlates of brain structure/function
Leadership and Advocacy: Co-founded the EDIFY consortium for eating disorder research and co-leads the IoPPN Race Equality Working Group, contributing to the Race Equality Action Plan. She teaches on MSc programs in Developmental Psychopathology and Neuroscience.
