Dr. M. Ehteshamul Bari is a Senior Lecturer in Law and Deputy Head (Research) at Thomas More Law School, Australian Catholic University, Melbourne. He previously held academic positions at Macquarie University, Deakin University (where he directed the JD Program), and the University of New England. His PhD in Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law from Macquarie University (2015) underpins his research.

Dr. Bari's research focuses on the misuse of state powers in Commonwealth nations, including judicial/police/military persecution of political dissidents, frivolous lawsuits, extrajudicial killings, and enforced disappearances. His work emphasizes constitutional flaws and proposes reforms grounded in comparative constitutional law and normative perspectives to strengthen democratic values like the rule of law and human rights protection.
He has authored five books (four monographs and one edited collection) with publishers Routledge and Springer, and contributed 26 book chapters and peer-reviewed articles to journals like Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal, Wisconsin International Law Journal, and George Washington International Law Review.
