معرفی
Mírian Romitti is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research in Human and Molecular Biology (IRIBHM Jacques E. Dumont), Free University of Brussels (ULB). She earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with an Endocrinology focus from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (2014). Previously, she served as a postdoctoral researcher in the Costagliola Lab and held positions as Chargé de recherche and Scientific Collaborator at FNRS.
Her research leverages organoid models to investigate thyroid diseases (hypothyroidism, cancer) and lung pathologies. Key innovations include developing human thyroid organoids from embryonic stem cells for hormone production studies and creating tools to assess endocrine disruptor toxicity via the Horizon 2020 SCREENED consortium. Current work dissects molecular mechanisms of thyroid/lung cell fate using hPSC-derived lung organoids to model congenital diseases, fibrosis, and pollution-driven conditions.
Grants & Collaborations:
- Horizon 2020 SCREENED consortium (Endocrine Disruptor research)
Lab & Team: Leads a research group at IRIBHM focused on organoid-based disease modeling and developmental mechanisms.
