Lyse Norian

Dr. Lyse Norian is a Professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), jointly affiliated with the UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and UAB Nutrition Obesity Research Center. She holds secondary appointments across multiple UAB research centers including Comprehensive Diabetes Center and Center for Clinical and Translational Science.

Education:

• PhD in Immunology, University of Iowa (2000)
• MS in Microbiology and Immunology, Iowa State University (1992)
• BS in Microbiology and Immunology, Iowa State University (1988)

Postdoctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine (2001-2006).

Her research focuses on two primary areas: mechanisms of tumor-induced immune dysfunction, and effects of diet/obesity on anti-tumor immune responses. Using preclinical models and human biospecimens, her lab investigates obesity-altered immunotherapy outcomes and metabolic influences on tumor immunology.

Dr. Norian maintains extensive collaborative networks across UAB research centers and has established translational approaches bridging immunology, nutrition science, and cancer biology.
