Lynne Sandmeyer is Professor and Small Animal Clinical Head in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. She holds a DVM from Western College of Veterinary Medicine and DVSc from University of Guelph, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.
Her research focuses on hereditary and acquired ocular diseases across species, with specialization in canine ocular pathology, feline infectious conjunctivitis, and equine recurrent uveitis. Current investigations utilize optical coherence tomography for retinal disease diagnosis in veterinary patients.
Recent publications examine bacterial profiles in canine corneal ulcers, pharmacological management of postoperative ocular hypertension, and breed-specific risk factors for equine recurrent uveitis. Her longitudinal study of Golden Retriever uveal disease established foundational understanding of this breed-specific ophthalmopathy.
As Graduate Chair, she oversees advanced training programs and collaborates on genetic studies of inherited ocular conditions in equine breeds.
