Lynne M Taiclet

Dr. Lynne M Taiclet is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Comprehensive Care at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She serves as a faculty member of the Center for Patients with Special Needs (CPSN) and previously directed the CPSN from 2010 to 2024. Her work focuses on curriculum development for dental and hygiene students in caring for individuals with special health care needs (SHCN), incorporating clinical and didactic components.

Dr. Taiclet’s research interests include advancing dental care for patients with disabilities, improving educational curricula in special care dentistry, and promoting healthcare accessibility. She has been instrumental in developing clinical rotations at the CPSN, which use protective stabilization, behavioral guidance, and pharmacological management techniques. Her leadership led the CPSN to win the ADEA William J. Gies Award for Innovation in 2018.

Dr. Taiclet chairs committees such as the University of Pittsburgh’s Dental Hygiene Promotions Committee and the ADEA Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee. She also advises the University of Pittsburgh’s student chapter of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD), one of the oldest and largest chapters nationally.
