Lynn Cohick serves as Professor of New Testament and Director of the Houston Theological Seminary at Houston Christian University's School of Christian Thought, Department of Theology.
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in New Testament/Christian Origins, University of Pennsylvania
- BA in Bible and Religion (summa cum laude), Messiah College
Dr. Cohick's research expertise encompasses New Testament Studies, Early Christianity, and the Greco-Roman World, with specialized focus on Women in Early Christianity, Jewish-Christian Relations in Antiquity, and Early Christian Martyrs. Her scholarly work integrates historical-critical methods with theological reflection to illuminate the socio-cultural contexts of early Christian communities.
She currently holds leadership positions as President of the Institute for Biblical Research and as a member of the Society of New Testament Studies. Dr. Cohick also serves on editorial boards for multiple academic journals and monograph series, contributing to the advancement of biblical scholarship.
In her teaching role, Dr. Cohick instructs courses including New Testament Survey, Greco-Roman Backgrounds of the New Testament, Biblical Interpretation and Hermeneutics, Paul the Apostle, Prison Epistles, Senior Seminar, and Women in the New Testament, guiding students in rigorous textual and historical analysis.
