Jin Kim is an Assistant Professor in both the Department of Philosophy and the Religious Studies Program at Oklahoma State University (OSU), specializing in ancient Christianity and the New Testament. She holds a PhD in Religious Studies from The University of Texas at Austin (2019), an M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and prior degrees from Seoul National University and Korea University. Her research focuses on biblical hermeneutics, Greco-Roman religions, and the intersection of ancient texts with cultural contexts.
- Teaching: Courses include New Testament studies, Jesus' teachings, Pauline theology, and death/afterlife themes in world religions.
- Service: Secretary of the Korean Biblical Colloquium since August 2021.
Her research interests explore Pauline epistles, early Christian practices, and the application of ancient rhetoric to biblical interpretation. Recent work analyzes gladiatorial imagery in 1 Corinthians and Lukan narratives addressing post-war trauma. She bridges historical-critical methods with contemporary theological issues, including gender dynamics in modern Korean Christianity.
Publications include studies on resurrection theology, Paul's use of grief in Romans, and the socio-political context of Luke-Acts. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates archaeology, Hellenistic philosophy, and postcolonial perspectives to illuminate early Christian thought.
