Dr. Lynn Botelho is a Professor of History at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), recognized as a Distinguished University Professor (2011–12) for her excellence in teaching, research, and service. She specializes in the social and cultural history of aging, particularly in early modern England and Europe. Her work bridges historical scholarship with pedagogical innovation, integrating archival research into classroom teaching. She has organized over a dozen conferences, including international events like 'The Worlds of John Winthrop' and the national meeting of the North American Conference on British Studies. Dr. Botelho also holds leadership roles in British studies organizations and supports student research through IUP's Honors College.
Her research explores themes such as old age, poverty, gender roles, and the societal treatment of aging populations in pre-industrial societies. Notable publications include Old Age and the English Poor Law, 1500-1700 and Women and Ageing in Britain since 1500.
