Lynette Shotton

Lynette Shotton is an Associate Professor at Northumbria University, with significant leadership roles including Interim Dean of Apprentices (2023–2025). She holds the award of Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2023). Her expertise spans breastfeeding education, healthcare policy, and addressing educational inequity for care-experienced students. Lynette maintains registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, reflecting her nursing background.

Her research focuses on breastfeeding practices (e.g., CHINS and LATCHES memory aides), care-leaver educational pathways, and student well-being. She supervises three PhD students exploring topics like public health engagement and non-traditional student experiences in nursing programs.
