Lyndsie Schultz

Lyndsie Schultz is a Lecturer in Education at Washington University in St. Louis, specializing in the social contexts of education for English Learner (EL) students, language policy, and geographic access to opportunities for marginalized youth. She holds a PhD in Education from Washington University, with concentrations in English Language Learning, Policy Studies, and Social Contexts in Education. Her academic background includes an MA in Elementary Education and an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Electronic Communication from Marquette University.

Her research investigates how geographic and sociopolitical contexts shape EL students' learning opportunities, particularly in the Midwest. She has worked with teachers in Illinois and Missouri for over a decade, focusing on equity and effectiveness in teaching ELs. Schultz contributed to the National Professional Development grant team (SEE-TEL) from 2018-2021, handling quantitative data analysis and providing teaching support in TESOL coursework and professional development. She also served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Missouri-Columbia's Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis department, supported by two university grants.

Key research interests include raciolinguistic mindsets, multilingual family engagement, upward mobility pathways for multilingual students, and the cultural politics of language. Her work addresses systemic inequities in teacher distribution and urban education policy. Schultz has published widely in journals such as Journal of International Migration and Immigration and Education Policy Analysis Archives, exploring themes like teacher training, policy implementation, and identity negotiation in language learning.
