Lymberakis Liverios is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Crete. Previously, he held leadership roles at Max-Planck Institutes in Berlin and Düsseldorf, including Head of Microstructure Research Group (2005-2011) and Head of Growth Modelling Group (2012-2022). His career includes a PhD from Universität Paderborn (2005) and postdoctoral work at Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung.

Research Focus: Development of first-principles computational methods for nanoscale materials design, with applications in electronics/optoelectronics. Specializes in:
- Epitaxial growth mechanisms at atomic scale
- Defects in III-nitride semiconductors
- 2D and 1D nanostructure properties
- Interface engineering in crystalline materials
