Lyle Steelman

Lyle Steelman serves as Lecturer of Trumpet at Baldwin Wallace University's Conservatory of Music while maintaining an active orchestral career as assistant principal trumpet with The Cleveland Orchestra since 2009.

His educational background includes:

• Master of Music (M.M.) from Southern Methodist University
• Bachelor of Music (B.M.) from Baldwin-Wallace College (2001)

As a performer, Steelman has held principal trumpet positions with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (2006-2009) and second trumpet with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra (2004-2006). His solo appearances span major ensembles including The Cleveland Orchestra, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Baldwin Wallace Bach Festival, and Blossom Festival Band. His expertise focuses on classical brass performance with emphasis on orchestral repertoire and brass pedagogy.

Steeleman's teaching extends through masterclasses at Baldwin Wallace University, Southern Methodist University, The Cleveland Institute of Music, and Oberlin College. He has presented for The Cleveland Orchestra's Master Series and served as guest clinician for the College of Orchestra Directors Association National Conference, demonstrating significant contributions to music education through practical instruction and professional development.
