Lydia HaRim Ahn is an Assistant Professor in Counseling and Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University (ASU), affiliated with the School of Counseling and Counseling Psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, an M.S.Ed. in Counseling and Mental Health Services from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Psychology and Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Her research focuses on racism's detrimental effects on marginalized communities, developmental pathways linking racism to health outcomes (e.g., ethnic-racial socialization and parenting), and interventions to enhance mental health through psychotherapy and prevention programs. She has published in leading journals such as Journal of Counseling Psychology and Child Development.
Dr. Ahn teaches courses including Lifespan Human Development, Multicultural Counseling, and Professional Development, emphasizing cultural competence and social justice in education. She has received recognition for her contributions to clinical practice, leadership, and advocacy.
